BIO
" Poverty to Sovereignty " is the goal for the songwriter/producer/artist and CEO Rick Royals, 24, born Rickey Glasco and his independent label Royal Fam Muzik Group. Influenced by various genres of music like jazz, rock 'n' roll and r 'n' b Rick Royals has been able to put all 3 styles of music in one big gumbo pot and mix it with the music he loves making, Hip-Hop. Born in Columbus, Georgia and raised in the notoriously violent South Sacramento Rick Royals has been able to make some valuable contacts in the recording industry such as bay area's Keak Da' Sneak who had told him once in a recording session, " you're next, you got it " and offered him a spot on the label's roster Keak was working with at the time, when Rick was only seventeen.
Passing up the opportunity to work with Keak Rick has gotten more serious about his career in the business of entertainment. Now in the studio recording for his solo debut untitled which is expected release in spring of 2009 under his indie label. When not recording Rick is acting on behalf of his own manager calling venues, booking shows, developing himself as an artist and brushing up on his business skills.
Late 2005 Rick Royals hooked up with producer/artist Dok Sav and another artist and formed the group " Hypheenaz ". After recording for the album and seeing the hyphy movement transcend the group broke up and never released their album. Soon after Rick Royals and Dok Sav went back to drawing board and started " DoubleStaQ " releasing 2 for 15 in the summer of 2006. That same summer Royals released his first mxtape RICK ROYALS -Da' MXtape : Vol. 1 which had made a buzz throughout the Sacramento and Bay Area selling 1,000 plus copies out of his backpack in just a few weeks. In june of 2008 Rick released his first store released mxtape Jus' A Hustla'. Now in 2009, Royals has been in the studi recording non-stop getting ready to release Welcome 2 Swaggemento hosted by Sauce of Sumthin' Terrible & mixed by DJ Pmt, which will be followed by " Skool Houze Rock " & " Ladies Nite Out w/ Royals " which has 25 songs strictly for the ladies.
